Alibaug Beach is around 100 km from Mumbai. The beach lies close to the ruins of the Kolaba Fort, reachable by a short boat ride.
Mansur, 46, like many migrants, is struggling to find work during the pandemic leading to housing insecurity, he is currently living in Rome without a home or shelter. He receives food and basic necessities from Baobab Experience, a local humanitarian organization providing assistance to refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants.
Rajad (12) cannot walk or speak but she can hear and loves to be around people. Feda lost her home in Homs along with all of her savings during the war, she fled to Jordan 5 years ago with her 5 daughters. The family traveled to Syria at night by car but had to walk the final hours to the Jordanian border. Feda carried Rajad in her arms while others helped her to carry her younger children. Feda cleans houses to make money but struggles to make enough to care for her family. She says “My one hope is to go back to Syria”
