Sharron Lovell

Sharron is a visual journalist and educator. She is currently based between Beijing, Rome, and the UK. She shoots photos and video for a range of clients and is course leader for a Beijing-based, U.K. accredited Masters programme in Multimedia Journalism. 

Sharron's work has been published in National Geographic books, Newsweek, The Guardian, Buzzfeed, ChinaFile, Foreign Policy, PBS, Politiken, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, The Irish Times, Forbes, The Independent, Le Monde, and The Financial Times. Sharron is a multimedia consultant for UNICEF China and a regular video and photo contributor to UNICEF UK

2017 - SINO FLUX AT THE VICTORIA AND ALBERT MUSEUM. Documentary screening of Last Call to Prayer.

2016 - ENVIRONMENTAL FILM FESTIVAL; WASHINGTON DC. Documentary screening of Drinking the Northwest Wind: China's South-North Water Transfer Project as part of Global Environmental Storytelling with the Pulitzer Center.

2015 - Pulitzer Center Grantee.

2013 - Muslima; Documentary screening of Last Call to Prayer in the global online exhibition from the International Museum of Women (IMOW). 

2013 - AI WEIWEI: ACCORDING TO WHAT?  Portrait of the Artist. 

2012 - SABEW Society of American Business Writers and Editors Award for Investigative reporting for ‘Relocation Nation’ covering mass relocations in China.

2011 - SABEW Society of American Business Writers and Editors Award for creative use across all platforms for ‘Borderland’ a multimedia package reporting on China’s varied border regions.

2010 - SABEW Society of American Business Writers and Editors Award for special projects for ‘Living in the Shadows’, a multi-media documentary about China’s internal migration. Living in the Shadows was also recognized as ‘Multimedia of the Month’ for June 2009 on the influential US-based RESOLVE photography blog.

2008 - London School of Economics; London - Viewing Restricted: [Re]presenting Poverty a major exhibition exploring different notions, representations and manifestations of 'poverty' within a global context.
